Everyone agrees that the youth of Jamaica deserve the best possible education.
The National Tackle Football Association (NTFA) is committed to this ideal, and to the belief that a quality education does not begin or end in the classroom.
When our young athletes migrate to the US a special phenomenon occurs, they also migrate from playing soccer to playing tackle football. It is not a question of popularity or availability it is a question of culture and opportunity. Each Division One University provides 9 scholarships for soccer and 9 for track as opposed to 85 for football; it is a simple question of numbers and exposure.
The possibility of Tackle Football here in Jamaica is a preverbal game changer to say the least. We have three major sports in our institutions, Soccer, Track and Cricket. Soccer carries a squad of approximately 20 athletes, as for track if the athlete is not running a sub 10.9 (100m) you will not be very successful in this country. We find athletes that fall outside of this range to be marginalized, not able to compete on a local, national or international stage not to mention any real opportunity to earn a college athletic scholarship.
We are pleased to introduce this opportunity for your institution to present a sport that student athletes that of all physical stature can compete and further enhancing their high school and post graduate experience.
